This is the agreement between you and UGOIGO. We've written it as plainly as we can, because we'd rather you read it than sign it blindly. The short version: use UGOIGO to make real connections with real travelers. Don't harm people. Don't game the system.
Who we are
UGOIGO is currently operated by an individual based in New York, USA. These Terms will be updated if and when UGOIGO is operated by a company. If you need to reach us: support@ugoigoapp.com.
Who can use UGOIGO
You need to be 18 or older and have the legal capacity to enter a contract in your country. Onboarding gates this with a date-of-birth check; if your DOB is under 18, we don't create an account. One account per person. Keep your login to yourself — you're responsible for anything that happens through it.
How you sign in
You can sign up with an email address and password, or with Sign in with Apple. Either way, the credential is held by Supabase (our authentication provider) and we never see your password. If you lose access to your sign-in method, write to support and we'll work it out with you.
What we ask of you
UGOIGO is built for genuine human connection between travelers. Use it for that. Your profile and trips should represent you honestly. Your conversations should be real. UGOIGO is not a place for business solicitation, commercial promotion, or monetizing other users in any way.
Some things lead to immediate removal, no warnings:
- Harassment, threats, intimidation, or stalking of any kind.
- Sending or soliciting explicit content without clear, mutual consent.
- Hate speech targeting race, religion, gender, sexuality, nationality, or any other characteristic.
- Impersonating another person, including using someone else's photos.
- Scamming, phishing, or soliciting money from other users.
- Distributing malware, attempting to access our systems without authorization, or reverse-engineering the app.
- Running bots or automated agents through the service.
We don't monitor every conversation. But we take abuse reports seriously and act on them. When someone's safety is at stake, we don't wait.
Reporting and blocking
Every profile and every chat has a Report option. The categories are Harassment, Inappropriate photos, Spam, Underage, Scam, and Other, with an optional comment field. Reports go straight to our moderation inbox — we review every one.
You can also block another user from their profile, from inside a chat, or from Settings → Safety → Blocked users. Blocking is silent — they won't be notified — and removes you from each other's view of the app.
Photo verification — what it does and doesn't prove
UGOIGO uses an on-device liveness check (a brief blink + smile ceremony, powered by Apple's Vision framework). When you pass it, we set a verified flag on your account. We do not store the verification frames.
A verified badge means: a real human was in front of the front camera when the profile photo was set. It does not mean we confirmed your name, age, government identity, criminal history, or anything else. It is not a substitute for the judgment you'd use meeting anyone new in the physical world.
Your content
Everything you put into UGOIGO — your profile, trip posts, messages, photos, diary entries, anchors, polaroids — belongs to you. By adding it to the app, you give us a worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, and transmit it in the ways necessary to make the service work. That license ends when you delete the content or your account.
UGOIGO's name, design, code, and everything else we built belongs to UGOIGO.
If you believe someone has posted your copyrighted work without permission, email dmca@ugoigoapp.com with a description of the work, where it appears in the app, your contact information, a good-faith statement that the use isn't authorized, and your signature under penalty of perjury. We'll investigate and respond.
When things go wrong
We can suspend or remove accounts that violate these terms, that receive credible safety reports, or that are subject to legal orders. We try to use judgment rather than a hair trigger — not every mistake ends in a permanent ban. You can always close your own account in Settings → Delete account.
UGOIGO connects strangers, and strangers carry real-world risk. Photo verification confirms a real human took the photo, not that they are who they claim to be. Use the same instincts you'd use meeting anyone new — meet in a public place first, trust your gut, and let someone know where you're going. We're genuinely working to make this safer over time, but personal judgment is irreplaceable. UGOIGO is provided as-is, and to the maximum extent allowed by law, we disclaim all warranties.
Our liability
We're not responsible for what happens between users, for data lost in a third-party provider outage, or for downtime outside our control. If you have a legitimate claim against us, our total liability is capped at the greater of $100 or what you've paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.
If we end up in a dispute
We'd rather resolve things directly. If that doesn't work, disputes go to binding arbitration rather than court — except for small-claims matters or cases where you're seeking an injunction to protect intellectual property. Where permitted by law, you agree to resolve disputes individually and not as part of a class action.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any disputes not subject to arbitration will be brought in the state or federal courts located in New York County, New York.
If your use of UGOIGO causes a third party to make a legal claim against us, you agree to cover our reasonable costs in defending it.
When this changes
If we make changes that meaningfully affect your rights or responsibilities, we'll tell you — in-app and by email — before they take effect. Corrections and clarifications won't need a notification.
